Why can’t it be both?

So, there’s a list that the BBC has up, of 100 things that we didn’t know last year that we now know. My personal favorite:
78. The Labour Party spent £299.63 on Star Trek outfits for the last election, while the Tories shelled out £1,269 to import groundhog costumes.
… British politics is messed up.
You can now control your Roomba vacuum cleaner with your wiimote.
I think terrorizing family pets just got an upgrade.
Speaking of bad movie trailers, I went to see Casino Royale tonight (I know it’s been out for forever), and there was a trailer for a movie on that made me shout “Oh no. They CANT BE MAKING ANOTHER ONE!”
Well, they did.
*sigh*
I went to see Night at the Museum yesterday (which I highly recommend–it’s fun, funny, and not at all like you’d expect based on what the actors are usually in). In doing so, I saw a trailer for Fantastic Four 2–no, I have no idea why the hell they made another one. Anyway, this movie is taglined Rise of the Silver Surfer, and in the trailer, the Silver Surfer is pretty much made out to be a bad guy. But I thought he was a good guy…Hermit, set me straight here.
Harold Feld at Tales of the Sausage Factor has this interesting report on some of the recent political maneuvers in the AT&T/BellSouth merger negotiations.
Education and amusing. Highly recommended.
DragonQuest IX will be a DS game. This matters. A lot more than you think.
Unbeknown to them, Post and the Hiero have inspired the greatest tech verb pun since “broadcatch” From this day forth, the act of watching television shows uploaded to YouTube on your tv, via a Wii, will be known as “WiiWatching”.
So let it be written. So let it be done.
Today new Wii online “channels” have been announced with the Weather channel available for free now, and the Wii Opera browser available on the 22nd.
At first I didn’t have much interest in either of these, except in the cases of “too lazy to go upstairs to Google or open door to check weather”. But then I noticed “The Adobe Flash-enabled trial version of the Opera browser puts the Internet right onto owners’ television screens…”. Hooray for YouTube on the TV!

In your daily dose of tech irony, Microsoft did a good thing by releasing the Internet Explorer Administration Kit, which allows developers to release their own versions of IE7 to be more compatible with their corporation’s desires, or whatever.
To be fair, I hadn’t heard of this until Google did something MS probably didn’t expect with it. The new Google IE7 will use google as it’s default search engine instead of MSN, have the Google Toolbar pre-installed, and have the google Personalized Homepage feature. I’m betting you still have to have a “Valid” copy of Windows to run it though.
I’ve been looking for a copy of Cosmic Encounter recently, and not finding it in either of my two trusty gaming stores, I decided to try teh Interweb.
I thus discovered Cosmic Encounter Online. It’s free to play a selection of 6 alien races, and you can pay to purchase larger sets, or pay monthly to have access to everything. There appear to be a bunch of new races (most of which don’t look like they’ll add anything).
Then I remembered Catan Online, which is not free to play with others and almost certainly requires monthly cost.
Are there any other interesting Board or Geek games that have been electronically implemented?
Nintendo has finally addressed the Wii destruction straps “issue” in full. They are now offering replacement straps to anyone who fills out a form.
There goes my plan to have roommates help me purchase a HDTV.
