Insert haunting whistle here.

So, despite being on vacation at Lake Tahoe at the time, the Knight of Cups and I made it to see the new X-Files movie when it came out Friday. I admit that I’m a die-hard fan-girl about The X-Files. I have seen every single episode ever, most of them more than once, and it was usually the highlight of my week growing up (I turned off the phone in my room and didn’t let anyone bother me for one hour–and also didn’t do any homework for that hour).

But all that aside, the movie actually was really good. It was basically like one of the older, classic episodes–a creepy, monster-of-the-week sort of thing where the monsters are actually people. Basically an action, murder mystery character drama. Even I’ll admit that the series jumped the shark near the end, but this movie really was back to the roots of the show. You don’t need to know anything at all about the X-Files to understand and enjoy it.

George shot first

Some people have been… well, a generous word is “unhappy” with the changes George Lucas made to the Star Wars franchise, especially the retroactive insertions/deletions/changes and Jar Jar Binks.

Some fans at a Star Wars con in Japan decided that they needed a fitting monument.

An election video that doesn’t suck

Via electoral-vote.com, it appears that JibJab made another video that doesn’t suck about elections. It only took them another four years!

Also, it has Barack Obama riding a unicorn. That’s worth quite a bit, in my book.

Du du dum dum dum

This is supposed to be showing in theaters starting this weekend. Gee, I wonder why. As I said before, I’m a total terminator fanboi sometimes, and I’m becoming a Bale fanboi. I’m starting to get irrationally excited.

EA confirms what many have suspected: Bioware is working on a Knights of the Old Republic MMORPG.

I think it could be a fantastic game, provided they avoid some basic pitfalls. First, don’t try to be World of Warcraft (in! SPAAAAACE!) — there are plenty of WoW clones on the market, and most of them are not good, and even the ones that don’t suck are such obvious imitations that I feel bad for them.

Second, thinking that a Star Wars MMO cannot possibly go wrong brought us Star Wars Galaxies. So I look forward to it, but I am wary.

On the other hand, if they don’t blow it, it could be brilliant.

Sweet Zombie Jesus!

There’s this video game series some of you may have heard of. Lots of games, starts with an “F”, rhymes with “Minal Mantasy”?

Remember how it was practically the only meaningful exclusive left on the PS3?

Did you notice how I used the past tense there?

Hellboy 2 is really, really good.

If you disliked the first one, give it a shot — it’s much better. If you liked the first one, definitely go see it, because you’ll love it.

It’s a solid film.

After watching this video I was tempted to buy some gum even though I don’t chew gum.
