The Ziggurat of Doom

My eyes are good, how are your pants?

EDIT: If you’ve been saving this page, this text will become a link to the liveblogging as soon as it goes up.

A friend of mine, who will remain nameless… Ok, he goes by Big Bad Bizzy, is having a Star Wars party the day of Ep 3. Not necessarily because he’s super super hyped for it, but just because going to the midnight showing of 1 and 2 where such a big deal, he couldn’t pass up outdoing himself for ep 3.

We’ll be watching all the movies before the midnight showing, and I figured, eh, why not live blog it? I’ve got a blog. I’m alive. It sounds like a good mix.

So this is me announcing I’ll be live blogging a Star Wars marathon. I expect my updates will be using the following format:

Time: (what time it is)
At: (where I’m at in the movies/real life)
Observation: (duh)
Eyes: (how my eyes feel after this much flickering blinky goodness)
Butt: (how my butt feels after this much sitting goodness)
Brain: (How mad my brain is at me for watching Ep 1 and 2)

We’re kicking around two schedules, from the coordinating email:

This is Schedule Version 1.0 This will be Strictly adhered to:
I will begin the Day at 9:45 SHARP
Episode IV: A New Hope 9:45-11:50
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 11:50-2:00
Lunch 2:00
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi 2:05-4:20
Episode I: The Phantom Menace 4:20-6:35
Dinner 6:30
Episode II: Attack of the Clones 6:35-9:00
Clone Wars: Volume 1 9:00-10:10
Clone Wars: Volume 2 10:10-11:15
Leave BBB’s House and get to Movie Theater for 12:15 Showing of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

(Probability of watching Volume 2 of the Clone Wars is currently at 75%, i have a discussion to have first, so this “Strict Schedule” is still tentative)

(PS: The reason for including the Clone Wars is it fills in the gaps between episode 2 and 3. They pick up where episode 2 stops and drop us off at the very start of Episode 3 without skipping a beat. If i get an overwhelming response as to not show the cartoons, we can stick to just the movies.)

Or we have Schedule Version 2.0. This will be strictly adhered to:

I will begin the Day at 11:30 SHARP
Episode IV: A New Hope 11:30-1:35
Lunch 1:35
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 1:40-3:50
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi 3:50-6:05
Dinner 6:05
Episode I: The Phantom Menace 6:15-8:30
Episode II: Attack of the Clones 8:30-10:55
Leave Ben’s House and get to Movie Theater for 12:15 Showing of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

I’d ask that you collect the live entries in one large, cut post, or at most, one large post per movie, and continue to edit them as the event continues. The reason I ask this is because continued, seporate-entry live-blogging can very easily drive everything else off the front page.

  2. The Hermit Says:

Yeah, it was going to be one large post, mabye with a second for impressions from Ep3, with everything behind a (more) link.

I dunno man… I think you should definitely watch the clone wars cartoons… and I think you should save episodes IV - VI for after/the next day… and then leave more space between showings as something usually happens to a tight schedule liek that (bathroom breaks, phone calls, pizza delivery, etc)

Rampy is right… Spread them out. I’m viewing EP I 7 II today and the clone wars too. The premiere at midnight tonight and the originals tomorrow.

You fools are too late. Nothing can stop our plan now! (yes, I always wanted to say that, and have it actually apply)
